Here's what happens from first call to final report. No surprises, no scope creep, no retainer required.
STEP 1
Discovery Call (20 Minutes)
We talk about your company: headcount, industry, HR setup, recent issues, and what's keeping you up at night. I'll ask specific questions about your final pay process, meal break policies, and pay stub format.
What You'll Learn:
Whether you have obvious red flags
What an audit would cost for your company size
Timeline and deliverables
No pitch. I ask questions, identify whether you have exposure, and tell you what an audit would cost. You decide if it makes sense.
STEP 2
Document Collection (Days 1-2)
You send me:
Employee handbook/policies
5-10 sample pay stubs (redacted)
Final pay calculation worksheets
Timekeeping/meal break procedures
Org chart with exempt/non-exempt classifications
I review everything against California Labor Code requirements.
STEP 3
Audit & Analysis (Days 3-7)
I identify:
Pay stub compliance gaps (missing required elements)
Final pay calculation errors
Meal/rest break policy violations
Misclassified exempt employees
Policy language that creates PAGA triggers
I quantify your exposure: If an employee filed tomorrow, what would it cost?
STEP 4
Risk Report Delivery (Days 8-10)
You receive a detailed report with:
Executive summary of findings
Specific violations identified
Dollar exposure estimates (conservative and worst-case)
Prioritized remediation roadmap (what to fix first)
Compliant policy templates
Implementation timeline (30/60/90 days)
We schedule a 30-minute debrief call to walk through findings and answer questions.
STEP 5
Implementation Support (30 Days)
After delivery, you have 30 days of email support for implementation questions. Need help rolling out new policies? Want me to review your updated pay stub format? I'm available.
Most clients complete remediation in 30-60 days.
What Happens After the Audit?
You'll have clarity on your risk and a roadmap to fix it. Many clients implement changes internally. Some need ongoing support and move to a monthly retainer. Some bring me in for manager training or investigation support.
Whatever you choose, you'll know exactly where you stand.
